In memory of the late Professor Nicholas Lash, the Catholic Theological Association of Great Britain is launching the Nicholas Lash Essay Prize.

Professor Lash was a leading Catholic theologian and author, and a founder and second President of the CTA. This prize aims to honour his contribution to theological life in this country and the Catholic community, and to encourage the work of early career researchers.

Postgraduate research students in Theology at a university in Britain and Ireland, who are members of the CTA, are invited to submit essays on any area of theology associated with the work of Professor Nicholas Lash. Essays should be no longer than 6000 words (including footnotes).

The value of the prize is £250.

The closing date for submissions is Monday 3 May 2021. The prize will be awarded for the first time at the annual conference of the association planned for 6-9 September 2021 at Maynooth. The winning entry will be published by the Association alongside its annual conference proceedings.

To enter, please write to Dr Michael Kirwan (kirwanm6@tcd.ie) to request an essay prize application form.
