This year’s conference will take place from 2-5 September 2019 at St Mary’s University, Twickenham.

Monday 2 September

  • 4.30 pm – Welcome from Vice-Chancellor of St Mary’s University & Head of Institute of Theology
  • 5-6pm: Prof Anthony Towey, ‘A Grammar of Dissent: RE in schools and the language of faith’
Tuesday 3 September (Open Day)
  • 9-10.30am: Prof David Brown, ‘Art and the teaching of theology”
  • 11-12.30, 2-3.30pm, and 4.30-6pm: short papers
Wednesday 4 September
  • 9-10.30am: Prof Stephen Bullivant, ‘We confess that we are atheists’
  • 11-12.30: Dr Alastair Lockheart, ‘Holy places & religious language in new religious movements’
  • 2-3.30pm:  Roxanna Panufnik, ‘The spiritual language of music’
  • 3.30-6pm: time free for networking
  • 6pm: Drinks reception followed by Conference Dinner
Thursday 5 September
  • 9-10.30am: Prof Janet Soskice, ‘The names of God’
  • 11-12.30: Prof Lewis Ayres, ‘The apohphaticism of Christian language: lessons from Basil of Caesarea’
  • 12.30 pm: Requiem Mass for deceased members
  • 2-3.30pm: AGM followed by tea and departures
